Nordic Museum Open House at Christianson's Nursery

Nordic Heritage Museum is building a new home. The modern 57,000-sq. ft. museum and cultural center will be located in the heart of Ballard (on Market Street), and will include a refined layout and expanded exhibition and educational spaces. To celebrate this event, community advocate Sunnie Empie, will host an informational open house in our Schoolhouse on Sunday, June 26 from 11:00 a.m. – 5 p.m. to help celebrate Ballard’s new museum. The design is organized around a linear “fjord” that weaves together stories of homeland and the Nordic American experience. Bridges crossing the fjord intensify the experience of migration, connecting Nordic and Nordic American exhibits. Along with the core exhibition galleries, active social areas - cafe, store, auditorium and classrooms - will expand the Museum’s capabilities and audiences.
